Difficult to give an accurate diagnosis without taking off the cover. It could be something as simple as the intake hose that runs along the top rear of the engine leaking at the join (very common and is fixed by changing clip to a jubilee type) or it could be leaking elsewhere and running along the cover. There doesn't appear to be a huge amount of oil there though, have you asked if you could take the cover off and have a look, it's a simple enough job to do and unless the seller has something to to hide I don't see why they would object |

The seller is genuine enough I would think, if it was a crook the cover would have been spotless.

there is a sound deadening blanket attached to the inside of the steel pan and it will possibly be saturated with oil, so you need to have the pan removed to see the extent of the oil leak.
