Now you mention the upgrade! It did start to happen once I'd done the 'essential' update.

Guessing that you plug your TOMTOM into a laptop/PC via USB cable to update.

Yep I plug the USB into my laptop for updates using TomTom's upgrade application.

Problem for me is that I no longer have a laptop [just PC and iPad].

Not sure if it quite the same thing but a few years ago our farmers could not do any work between 2 & 4 pm as no satellites were available to sow seeds etc as it is all automated! After the 'update' I'm suspecting that the Tom Tom is now weaker in pulling in the signal.

I did exactly that but to be honest it didn't seem much better - but I'll run it around for a few more days 2002 Honda VFR800
