My key got crunched so Ive ordered a new one from jlridssddmongoose.com. They say I need to take it to my nearest dealer for programming, is this the only way to do this or can i do it? Many thanks Discovery Sport, LR2 BY 2008 60k, XKR XJ12, Daytona 595, XL500, big Dog & bigger baseballbat

As far as I'm aware it's a dealer job.

Has anyone had a new complete key programmed? My Dealer say it takes an hour to do, sounds like Im being set up for a nice fat bill? Any advise please? Discovery Sport, LR2 BY 2008 60k, XKR XJ12, Daytona 595, XL500, big Dog & bigger baseballbat

Hi Rustynuts,

Yes I have. I used Dakar ( http://www.dakar.co.uk/keyprog.htm ). They supplied the new key and programmed it. It was NOT an hours job. It took the guy about 10 mins. That being said I would still expect to pay £40-60 for the programming (guess) by the time they start on your car, use their tools/overheads etc, do the paperwork etc. But an hour at dealer prices, no thanks.

Have to say Dakar were excellent, they supplied and programmed it, worked perfectly and friendly service too. Having them supply the replacement also took the risk out of having a programming issue and then the key supplier and the programming person point fingers at each other.
