Great! Just put my Evoque details on and it said it cannot set a reminder for a vehicle that doesn't have a current MOT. Just checked it and it ran out on July 21st!! I'm an MOT tester.

I'd better do a thorough MOT on it first thing in the morning. Rolling Eyes Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Glad it's not just me, wife drove her Volvo around for four months until I realized it had run out!
Both cars listed now, thanks. Common sense isn't very common.

I've been using an app called Vehicle Smart on my Android phone. Enter your car reg and it looks up the details like MOST and TAX and you can put in other info like reminders and insurance details. Keeps it all in one place.

Handy if you want to look up another card details too. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

My cars work just as well without a MOT or with one. Whistle those were the days when you could put a Guinness bottle label in your car tax holder. Razz FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Interesting that you are allowed to MOT your own vehicle. Not that you have anything to gain by driving an unsafe vehicle, of course. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

I bought a D4 last July with supposedly 12 months MOT..

I got a text from the dealer 2 weeks ago saying its due, I looked online to see the exact date...

13th March 2017 Shocked Shocked Shocked

After a quick phone call to the dealer, I didn't pay for the MOT or any repairs Thumbs Up (It failed on the EPB warning light coming on during a tapley test. )

Also got another years MOT warranty from them.. MY2011 Freelander 2 GS Santorini Black

The dealer I bought my FL2 from in March (main LR dealer near the Derbyshire/Yorkshire border, not far from M1, in a town renowned for its church with a twisted spire Whistle ) failed to MOT it even though I specifically asked on pick up if it had been done as it expired 4 days previously.

They allowed me to drive away with no MOT, then called me on my way home to tell me it hadn't been done but it was booked in for the following morning and I was legal to drive it until then (which isn't the case at all). When I drove back at 8am the next day I discovered the service department knew nothing and it wasn't booked in, but as it was so early the MOT test station agreed to get it done first.

I always thought it was crazy how they sent a reminder for tax (which doesn't affect vehicle safety) but no reminder for MOT (which does affect safety potentially).

About time they brought in a reminder service for MOT but still wrong that you have to register to get it instead of automatically as with the tax.

Yeah, you'd be right in it if you did a dodgy one on your own motor. I want to have a bloody good lookover (and not just for MOT related items) while it's on the ramp anyway as it's still under full LR used approved warranty until 21 October and will be going in for its final 'free' service in early October. Touch wood, apart from a problem with the keyless entry just after we bought it, I've had no problems with it whatsoever but just in case I find something, it can be fixed under warranty when it goes in for it's service. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I’ve done it again!!

Just had the road tax reminder for the old work runabout Focus - tax due on 1st Feb. Tried to tax it online. No joy - bloody MOT had run out.

Likely to be a particular problem for DS owners. At least the FL2 has an annual service, so for most people third service = end of warranty and MoT. The DS has a nominal service interval of 21000 miles or two years, so no obvious way of remembering the three year deadline other than putting a reminder on your phone - not that you'll keep your phone that long anyway. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
