Thanks for the reply. That looks very similarly positioned to one of the Brodit options:

Yep, I've got one of those but it unfortunately doesn't do everything I need - I can live without TMC and Lane Assist functionality, but I need the ability to navigate to a set of coordinates (I geocache, and parking spots are usually provided as coordinates). I love the Sony's nav software otherwise, but it's missing this critical feature - and it's one of the few satnav units that can't be "enhanced" to run e.g. TomTom I was toying with hard-wiring the Sony and then having a separate mount for another unit to use on the occasions I need to navigate by coordinates, but then I thought - why bother with the Sony at all? I may still do that, but I need another mounting solution either way. |

Hmmm, the FAQ is a little off-putting:
Oozing, eh?! |

I have a brodit mount to the right of the stearing wheel. It is not obstructed by the wheel and gives me somewhere to put the phone when its in the car.

My only worry about mounting something on this side would be driving round town with the windows down, and someone grabbing your phone.

Right hand side? Either way, thanks for the photos - I think I'll go for that option, and hope that the satnav's batteries last long enough. I guess I can always get an active cradle later, if I need to. |

Anyone tried a Brodit angled mount which fits on the centre console? I am looking at ways in which to mount my Nokia N96 so that I can get power to it and still receive a signal for the GPS.
