Wales 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Firenze Red
Coming back

Hi all, been away after the debacle that was my last freelander 2 but haven't found anything else I've driven to match comfort and have finally got over the pain lol so looking to get another so at what point would the knowledgably gifted folk on here think would be average to good mileage on say a last off line freelander2
Diolch. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Any recent car doing less than 10K a year must be worth looking at. If its a trade sale it needs to be fully serviced for you to include the diesel filter and a years MOT. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks Bob so looking at anything with less than 30k on up to this point , that widens my search a bit then as was looking for under 20k for an automatic which I now must have Confused Will be looking land rover approved as although I had problems with local dealer Cambrian who I see know they have been taken over by Shuckers I would rather go to a dealer ( surely they can't be all bad ? ) Laughing to get the Warranty and all the checks.

Reading a few posts last night after getting back on here and can anyone explain what the posts are about regarding Ford parts, Volvo parts etc Are we saying that the Freelander 2 is a hybrid of different car parts ? If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Jules many manufacturers collaborate. At the time the FL2 was put towards production Ford owned JLR and Volvo. The diesel 2.2 engine is French. Some parts are Chinese in origin. The Haldex brand was originally Swedish.

Many cars are mongrels now. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Have you checked out LR approved used site - a number of 3 - 4 year old cars with Freelander metropolis at circa 25k.

Amazing how prices have really held up which shows what a popular motor it is. Thumbs Up MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

on the back of this thread ive just had a trade in price for mine Shocked

The screen price on mine was 20800 at a LR dealer 3 months ago, the trade in price is now 13800 and yet they are still going for sale at independent garages for 18900.

Somebody somewhere is pulling a fast one on prices me thinks, maybe the dealers are buying in 'high risk diesel' cars on the cheap from the public who have been panicked by the diesel witch hunt and selling them on at huge profit..

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Hi... and welcome back.
Unlike you, I had zero issues with my first FL2 (and same with its predecessor, a late FL1), so, looking to change after 9 great years I looked no further than an end of production (64-plate) FL2 Metropolis. 16k on the clock and 25k in January this year. Superb and faultless (as it should be!!) after 6 months use. It is an even better car than my beloved old TD4SE Auto.
Should be able to get one now - at about 20-30k miles for about 22-24k. The Metropoliss were all auto/SD4 and top spec, including Xenons, heated leather seats & steering wheel, rear camera and the brilliant Meridian HiFi system. They would have cost the original owner either side of 40k. Hunters in Guildford have one now at 24k and 26k miles.
The SD4, Xenons and Meridian are - IMHO, really worthwhile elements.
Good luck - look forward to hearing how you get on. Smile

I've decided to stop being a good example and will now just be a terrible warning.....
2008 TD4HSE - gone but much loved.
2014MY SD4 Metropolis - very much loved.

United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Zermatt Silver

July and August should in theory be the best months for buying a 4x4. When the sun is shining they are not on the top of the car buyers list. As winter approaches good used 4x4 vehicles are in demand. Personally I think you are doing the right thing going to a main dealer. A lot of the mechanical issues that can occur with the Freelander 2 are expensive items so a warranty and extended warranty give peace of mind.

With respect to the " bits and pieces " the Ford/PSA Diesel engine is a good one , millions of Transits have gone round the clock so it can't be wrong Rolling with laughter , The autobox is Aisin Warner also a good one. A lot of the running gear and the floorpan is the generic Ford "world platform" that was used on cars like the small X series Jag, Mondeo, Volvo XC , Mazda etc. The car was built at Halewood which was originally a Ford assembly plant. I changed the brake pads last year, the calipers even had FoMoCo cast into them. The main thing is that who ever put the Freelander 2 concept together for the most part got it very right. The late model cars seem refreshingly free of the problems that beset the 2007-10 models, but you should be able to expect that when a vehicle reached its 7th year of production. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

Electric memory seat is really only any use if more than one person drives the FL2.

Basic electric seats with no memory are fine, but if its only you that drives it then manual seats will still do the job just fine.

I find electric driven seats a pain. Had them in other cars and not worth the money - Example, first time you go any where like a airport drop off the (skilled Thud ) driver knocks out the memory. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The dynamic came with electric seats as standard BUT I specced mine with memory seats and I'm the only driver. Rolling with laughter MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior
