I've been a Land Rover enthusiast for 20 years unfortunately I'm away on holiday then. Common sense isn't very common.

Just because we are not going to a particular show doesn't mean we are not Land Rover enthusiast.

We've had Land Rovers in the family for 60 plus years! Long before they became a fashion accessory!

Guess I'm not an enthusiast either Rolling Eyes MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Yes axle. FFR winterised, hence the batteries being either side of the rear tub instead of between the seats, to make way for an arctic heater.

Winterised FFR Lightweight would either mean ex Royal Marines (including attached Royal Signals) or ex 249 Signal Squadron (AMF-L).

They were the main users of winterised FFR until any restructuring and re-rolling took place

Sadly the B-card states it spent it's time with the Royal Anglians before transfer to various Gurkha regiments, none of whom used winterised vehicles. An email to Deepcut came back as Gurkha and RMP. So that conflicts with the B-card. However, while restoring the Landy I uncovered the possible reason. The chassis was a replacement by the ABRO. It has no chassis number stamped on it either. Despite the fact it was obviously winterised, it's suspected that it's military VIN plate was "lost" during the chassis change so any old VIN was used as long as that VIN belonged to an FFR. This was further backed up by an ex-REME guy who said it was common practice.

The pic proves it had a replacement chassis, but there is no mention of repairs on the Nonclamenture plate or B-card of this.

I cant believe the British Army of the 80's would do such a thing as that.... Shocked ..... Laughing

I had heard of registration plates being swapped around from a U/S VOR Vehicle to a serviceable vehicle for an exercise period

Worked out where this show you mentioned is held. Pity didn't know of it earlier as I'm caravanning around England then, but have booked to be in Yorkshire that weekend.

Is this the show that started off in Billing years ago? Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

That's the one. Very Happy
Although there's a lot going on at the Kelmarsh Land Rover show, I don't think it's going to be as successful as Billing was. People associated Billing with LRO magazine and they left Billing for a site in Peterborough.
I was also surprised that I could book Kelmarsh last week, so close to the event. Usually Billing was sold out by the end of April/beginning of May if you wanted to camp . Plus it's a lot more expensive than the LRO show too.£90 to camp plus £65 for electric hook up for 4 nights plus £10 booking fee Shocked

That is hugely expensive! I know the Caravan Club is dear, but at least you get tarmac roads and paths, and brick built toilets and shower blocks. Oh - and a much cheaper price than that! Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!
