rear diff removal

Hi, I'm looking to take off the rear diff, propshaft & driveshafts on my 08 Freelander 2 after the rear diff started to whine . So I took the propshaft off 1st & have been running in front drive for a few months now without issue. My plan is to eventually repair the diff, propshaft bearings & replace the driveshafts when finances allow. So with this in mind will there be a warning light on the dash once the rear diff sensor is disconnected?

Thanks for the quick reply. Is there anyway to cancel this warning light? Some say it will only light up when using the drive train functions .

I believe they need to be informed of the modification. I'm sure it'll bump up the insurance, but it's more like a down-grade other than a super hi spec upgrade.

better safe than sorry as a slick assessor (that means asshole) would void your insurance if you were not the guilty party in a large claim. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Yorky Bob, why do you consider an insurance assessor who does their job correctly to be an asshole?

It's the responsibility of the vehicle owner to make sure that any changes made to their vehicle are passed on to their insurer, not doing so can void your insurance, clear as day on any insurance you take out. If you fail to do this and your vehicle is involved in a accident, non fault or otherwise, you only have yourself to blame if you don't get paid out, it's not the fault of someone who is doing the job they are paid to do

I don't decry that person with genuine skill and especially as my cars do not deviate from spec.

I placed myself n the position of the person who often gets screwed by the insurance industry as a whole and that is most of us.

Examples are available.

Maybe it did not help to find a renewal for home insurance at a 22% increase in the last few day , no claims, no changes in circumstances etc etc, applied as they think they can get it without quibble and as the only change is my age from retirees who are not supposed to be awake and notice. An industry that is a crooked.

I totally agree about your comments regarding the insurance industry, they rely on people auto renewing their policies year in year out, I used to be one of those people. Now though I check the usual comparison sites then go back to my insurers and ask them to match which they invariably do. The question that needs to be answered is why are we not getting the lower price as a matter of course. Very few industries these days reward loyalty and that is appalling as is the fact that those of us that are honest and drive safely have to subside the payments to those who fabricate injuries just to make a few quid. Time for an overhaul of the insurance industry as a whole I think

Hmmm.... that quickly turned in to a rant, sorry about that
