England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Rimini Red

Went away for 4 days car wouldn't start last night due to flat battery, charged it overnight and had the glow plug light on for 10 seconds this morning before it started. Now on second battery and will be taking to dealers to check this one. Surely a landrover should be able to stand for a few days at minus2 or so without the battery conking out!!!, yes I double plip etc no I don't leave any light on or sat-nav charging etc.

You would hope so, that's not an unreasonable requirement.

I'm travelling with a portable power pack in the back, just in case. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

Read all the posts and did some tests and found the following:

1 Glow plug did not normally light up if temperature was 0 Deg C or over, even if just turning on the Ignition.

2 Temperature -1 Deg or lower Glow plug Light comes on for as long as the engine takes to start.

It was -3Deg here this morning and the engine took about 3 Seconds to fire up. and glow plug lit up, thank goodness.

Just missing the boost heater, it took 3-4 miles before windows demisted fully. Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto with Winter Pack, Stornaway Grey, Ebony, Grey Mirror Caps. Removable towbar with 13 pin Electrics

I used my heated front sceen for the first time. Only half worked, and typically it was the passenger side! Will the warranty cover this?

you appear to have a left hand drive screen, the only solution is a full left hand drive conversion, which I imagine should be warranty work At work

Christian - there must be something wrong with it - my heated screen has worked on the whole screen very well last winter. Defrosting in up to -15 c - clears in just a few mins. In fact I have never used an ice scraper on this car which is normal to use over here. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
