Not to stray to far off topic but my spec, the SE, has just the right amount of kit, it doesn't have all this daft electric folding rear seat malarkey and doesn't have Incontrol Pro which seems to a constant source of problems in every JLR vehicle that has it and no gesture tailgate which is temperamental, to put it politely.

I was in the dealers yesterday looking over a new (to me) Freelander to replace my broken Evoque. The salesman was very pleasant, very helpful, and very ignorant of my needs as a customer. Looked at 2 cars, a 2014 GS and a 2013 HSE but all he could point out was the leather seats, boot space, BT connectivity etc. When I started asking about Xenon or Halogen, or is the LED signatures were fitted,or what the capablilities were of this or that function... he was clueless. Just goes to show how little car makers/designers/dealers care about a cars capabities and how much they care about aesthetics and gimmicky features that the general public know nothing about but want to show off to their neighbours. How many modern LR buyers know about approach/departure angles, ramp break over, or that the washer nozzles on FL2 show the inside track of the front wheels so you can guide yourself over obstacles..... |

I was in Stonelake, the independent specialist in Copley near Halifax yesterday ( not to be confused with Rybrook Copley Landrover the official dealer next door ) .

If you're a BMW-ist, none of this will mean anything! |

A BMW salesman once told me his average BMW customer knows nothing about cars, many can barely drive, they just by BMW because they hear they are the best. At work

Now now CG! BMW's appeal does go far deeper than "hearing they are the best". The showrooms are very nice too (with cars always parked in nice straight lines, as laid down by BMW) and their marketing, particularly anything involving a promotional video, is industry leading. |

A Land Rover salesman once told me that their cars were brilliant and that the customer service was in another class. That was before one dealer spent 3 weeks trying to fix something that in the end they admitted they couldn't and suggesting I go somewhere else, another dealer who damaged my FL2 and then denied doing it, numerous unanswered phone calls from service departments and my last FL2 that after 3 years and 35000 miles required TWO replacement Haldex units, a new rear diff and a new aux tension belt.. Hmmmm I know which dealership I would rather enter... Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black Gone - 2014 BMW X3 M Sport Space Grey, faultless! Gone - 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Bali Blue with xenons Gone - 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Rimini Red with bodykit |
