I did also refer to the relative frequency of failure (i.e. catastrophic failure but unusual, Vs significant failure, though manageable, but virtually inevitable given enough miles). |

If you want to compare apples with apples then simply looking at waranty claims for L319 v L359 will answere your question. MY15

If it were possible to access that data, it would help. Even then, it might be difficult to draw a direct comparison without be sure we are comparing equally hard used vehicles. There are likely to be more L319's doing commercial work and / or hauling heavy trailers. |

As an Ex National Fleet Manager i did have access to warranty information and L319 was considerably higher both running costs and warranty work over a vehicles lease life.

The Indy near me has a D4 and two RRS's in his workshop with snapped cranks. But with LR fitting a replacement lump under the bonnet at circa 12k a Haldex and a Diff comes in cheap. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

Okay, one last go - crank in D4 is hideously expensive but exceptional - Haldex / rear diff in FL2 much less expensive, but a near certainty. I've got no axe to grind here - I like both cars, now let's move on! |

Yes, of course it just seemed that no one was considering the frequency of that failure |

Just changed from D4 to 2013 freelander 2 & well pleased so far. Only had D4 for 8 months & it went back to garage 7 times & was starting to blue smoke under heavy excelleration so it had to go ! FL 2 is best part £300 less to tax, less to insure, 8mpg more, done half the miles & 4 years younger for virtually the same money. Missed the v6 sound & smoothness for few days but the take no notice now. Had 07 D3 for 6 years previously, theD4 wasn't the car I thought it was going to be, better dash etc & facelift but just never felt the same to drive as D3.so far FL2 is very impressive. |
