It is a LR Volvo and Ford agent, very common combination in Germany |

Change the transmission oil and therefore you'll change the front diff oil too.

Alex, I expect the OP is really referring to the Transfer Box. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

According to the manual the Diesel, petrol, manual and automatic all have the same PTU that contains 0.75ml.

Now while searching i also found in the manual that "oil filled for life" which explains LR refuse to service it.

I agree, LR see more profits when this unit fails.

Indeed, after his last post, it seems that he means the PTU (power transfer unit) which is a totally different thing than the, and I quote, "front differential" he was referring in the first message. The PTU has a mean to (ex)change the fluid and therefore is serviceable, not like the garage said. The front differential, like I said, is inside the main gearbox and shares the same oil with the gearbox and also serviceable by changing the main gearbox oil. |

Thanks Alex, i was always under the impression that front diff and PTU are the same thing.
