Cheap agm varta battery

Don't know if anyone is interested, but there is a seller on eBay with Varta agm 110 80ah batteries. £65 plus £7.50 postage.
I have just received one and its the same as the cars original 'JLR'.
Don't know how to post link, but search. 'Agm varta battery' and it should come top of the page. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

That's a very good price, I bought one 3 years ago for £135. I found a supplier that charged £70 for the battery but would only sell to trade which shows how much retailers can make on a Battery! Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Cheapest price I can see for a Varta Agm battery with a Varta sticker is around the £125 mark. There is NO WAY someone could supply a genuine one for £65 (OR BEST OFFER!!). The one I assume the OP is referring to doesn't even have a proper Varta sticker on it even though Varta stickers are easily obtainable if you were that way inclined and I know a few retailers that are! It has 'Varta' in small wording on the top plus there appears to be some text that has been tippexed out. Why? Be very aware, you know the saying - if it seems too cheap to be true........ Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Steve
It is a genuine Varta battery. All the numbers match the the Landrover one. If you remove the tipex there is the landrover and Jaguar logos.
I got one because I was desperate at the time. The battery is perfectly OK.

Sorry gasman, I wasn't doubting your intentions to help others out for one minute but there are some very dodgy sellers out there selling counterfeit goods. Any idea why labels are tippexed out? Surely they would command a premium price with JLR branding on them?

A local car parts shop to me (now closed) used to fit Exide, Crompton and Motorcaraft stickers on any battery they supplied to the trade depending on what you asked for. If they were busy they'd sell you an unmarked battery and give you the sticker to fit!

I know someone that works in the windscreen fitting trade and his firm have LandRover stickers made to fit on some screens when they fit them and there is no way they come from LandRover.

All I was trying to say to people was, be aware of some hard to believe deals. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Could the tippexing out of the JLR logo be down to branded marketing rules ?

e.g. Identicle Inka seat covers - LR branded = mega bucks but Inka branded = reasonable price
Rubber boot mat for an Ewok - RR branded = mega mega bucks but Britpart with no logo and identical, shape, quality etc = decent price

maybe the seller is not allowed to sell them with the logo showing due to marketing rules and the batteries are past their shelf storage life at JLR ??

The label generally is immaterial, the casing moulding is a more genuine guide, batteries as everything else depends on cost, more expensive longer warranty is most likely the same as the cheap one, the cost depends on the reliability of the supplied unit, you may be lucky and buy a cheap one that lasts for years, you may buy an expensive one that fails under warranty at least twice, OK if the vendor is still about to honour the warranty Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

This has scam written all over it, it's impossible to send a battery via any means for £7.50 for a start. (scuse pun)

Usual caveat, if it sounds too good to be true ...

All I'm saying guy's is it is EXACTLY the same as the one I have just removed.

And yes it was £7.50 delivered by courier the next day.

As I said was only trying to help as some of us have to work to a tighter budget. To me it was worth the punt. I think it has paid off.
If I new how to post a picture of the two together I would. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

I'm not sure you can state it's a scam due to the postage cost, businesses can send things via couriers far cheaper than I can ever get quotes for and there is a large number of people selling car batteries on ebay with free postage, I've never been able to send anything for free before so surely these must be dodgy!!!! 2007 TD4 XS Manual in Sumatra Black

eBay ... tippexed out logo's and cheap postage ... silly me, course it's legit, they have over 600 sales and no doubt paid all their taxes too, I do apologise.
