United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

I have had Evoques, a DS , a Jaguar XF and a Mitsubishi Shogun as loan cars from my LR dealer whilst our FL2's have been in for warranty work. I have the financial resources to buy anything and just bought another FL2. Not sure what that tells you. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto
Now Discovery Sport P250 MHEV SE

that tells me that you planned your retirement and have money to spare to fund my new one Laughing

i want an auto this time, fed up of flywheels being a problem not covered by warranty. Evoque autos are quite a bit higher priced than the manual, so unless the deal i get offered is substantial i cant see it being an auto Ewok
Could be a late 13ish plate HSE FL2 auto though....

Modern autos are great and once driven most people do not want to go back to a manual. For my the F2 is the more useful car but only you can decide which car you want - an often it is the domestic "authority" who decides which car you have!

haha I am my own authority (some positive points to that and some negative)

both are useful..... that's the dilemma...... but particularly against the Ewok exterior and interior the FL2 is starting to be a little dated, and will be more so in a couple of years time. (even if the Ewok is just a FL2 in a pretty frock Laughing )

The Freelander 2 autobox is surprisingly good for a " last generation " technology. The 160 horse engine in our Freelander plus the box and it really makes for a pleasant, quite rapid drive , it's a very good pairing.

The real revelation to me in autoboxes is the Lineartronic CVT in the Subaru. Forget all the nonsense you read about CVTs being whining rubber bands. It's just a smooth stepless push like a turbine. If you want to drive it manually the on board computer will put seven "simulated change points" in and you can use the flappy paddles , but to be honest why bother unless you are off road and just want to hold a gear. I've whacked it through the box a few times to show my mates but full CVT is just so relaxing 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Disregarding fashion, when choosing a car, makes life so much easier! By definition, fashion dates. Quality functional design never dates Thumbs Up

I agree Tigger, I still love the Freelander.
Showed my grown up kids a pic of a white FL2 dynamic that could be on the cards and they said it looked chavvy....... Laughing

United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White

I have a white FL2 that I have made monochrome by swapping badges, painting accessories etc of which I am quite proud Whistle

Yet my daughter has always referred to it as my "pimp-mobile" Shocked

Must be missing something with modern kids No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

On a slightly different tack, my teenage daughter used to complain about my wife's Peugeot ZX diesel saying that "it chugs". Funny though, as soon as she passed her driving test "Mum can I borrow your car?" 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I dont think a manual Evoque will hold its value as much as an auto - IMO I'd avoid and go for an auto if you really must have one.
My wife really fancied an Evoque when they first came out. Went to have a look, opened the boot and said "where are my labradors going to sit". Now on our 3rd FL2 - all have been very reliable and happy to keep ours now for as long as possible. Jules

Due to a lack of auto evoque in my budget and other criteria its looking the Freelander will be the one
Its a 2013 13 plate HSE in Orkney, very nicely specced
But what do the following packs include....
Clearview pack
Cold climate pack
Design pack

So pretty much standard HSE spec then... it does gave heated steering wheel and Meridian 825w stereo with 17 speakers which is a deal breaker for me lol
