I would say its more likely the car Bluetooth needs a software update.

Sometimes the Bluetooth unit takes a while to see my iphone and I then have to select it Most other times it sees it after a few seconds after starting the car up without me doing anything. . My phone hasn't changed recently and last time I had car serviced at main dealer all software was correct. Not sure why the variability |

For whatever reason, the older phone modules (like the one originally fitted in a 58 plate car) cannot be upgraded by the dealers to the latest phone module software version i.e. the 2011-2012 software. Until now in order to get compatibility with newer phones, the phone module itself had to be replaced to the newest version from 2011-2012. Which is what I had to do to get my iPhone 6S working properly in the car.

I can post an updated module to you as an exchange, you post me your old one, or I know a couple of people in the UK who would be able to make the software update directly in the car. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

the idea of getting it updated here appeals, I was going to take it to a local LR dealer to see if they can sort the software but it sounds like you have a better route.

The dealer cannot update the software of an older module to the latest revision, all they can do is sell you a new module, for £350 + installation...

What do you mean by "failure" it's not working at all? When you press the phone button on the radio do you get the phone menu?
