I have the same as you, but only fit them on when I need them - that’s the advantage over the permanent mounted LR type that are noisy all the time .

anything straped to the roof will be noisy just due to the wind resistance

I was thinking of getting the gaffer tape out for the holes as well, I may as well give it a try before spending some more hard earned!! |

silicones a little bit perminant, they gaps we are talking about might need accessing at some point for adjustments

I'm going to try the tape first as well as I can still flog the bars on ebay if I've not messed up the adjustability!
