for here needs sounds like the Tucson will be more appropriate, it is more modern than the FL2 and will be a natural move from the captive.

The FL with auto towing a van you can't beat it even better with SD engine, Hyundai's are not made to tow they can tow, if she gets a chance the Tucson is down on torque compared to the FL and that means more fuel, the LR stability program for trailers can't be beaten and you don't need any electrical connection for it to activate, Yes the Tucson is a newer car but electrics and electronic wise it still lacks the FL. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I tow a 1500kg trailer and race car all over the UK without issue and performs as well as the FL but with better fuel economy. I forgot to mention that I have the 2 litre engine not the 1.7 |

if it were my daughter, who also lives in the NE of Scotland, the Hyundai would be the choice, a no brainer.

iain, I agree. As said , if it was me I would go for the FL. However peace of mind and long distance phone calls will make me suggest the Hyundai. This has just started. haven't even been to look at the Hyundai yet. SWMBO loves the FL and hates the colour of my Zambezi Silver D2. Next car will definitely be an FL2 albeit probably about 5/6 years old.

I had exactly the same thought after reading the first post. Not for me, a Hyundai but it would give me peace of mind if my daughter was driving a new vehicle. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto Present: Audi A3 S Line. |

Despite the 5 year warranty which is only on the drive train (excluding clutch) the rest is 3 year 60,000 miles, I would not go back to a Hyundai or Kia, though if forced the Kia would be my choice. The main weakness in the Hyundai is the suspension which is weak compared to the FL and is on the short part of the warranty, parts aren't cheap and the biggest complaint is dealers, in the North of Scotland your dealer will almost certainly be Arnold Clark, the warranty is via the importer not the manufacturer. perhaps a look here would help you decide http://www.hyundaiownersclub.co.uk/forum my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I do not believe the last post reference warranty is correct, certainly not as per documentation that I have.

The Kia / Hyundai warranty is one of the most frequently misunderstood warranties available. It's worth getting an update on exactly how little they pay dealerships to carry out warranty work to fully understand how enthusiastic they may be to complete such work!

Why ?sorry cannot understand that logic But you obviously know the figures that Hyundai pay their dealers for warranty as well as LR so I would be most interested if you could publish them here, so that I can understand your preference |

The main service is 20K with an optional 10K one, perhaps you could confirm the prices for the 15K yearly service from LR as I must be out of touch. My last service was close to 300 pounds from LR and at three years I need ( prefer ) to have a warranty £600 I believe |
