True! All the recommended wheel/tyre sizes have the same rolling diameter.

I run 20" Evoque wheels, but I still have a 17" spare.

Agreed. Notwithstanding my post above, in practice, I prefer to have matching sizes in cases of what may be more than just emergency needs. I have 6 x 19" wheels/tyres, all Triple Sports with Contis' plus 5 x 17" (4 type 2 in grey & 1 type 1 in silver) all with winters.

Did LR not at one point supply a steel wheel on all FL2s.... think is was a 17" steeler MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

This has been much discussed in the past. The LR steel spare was a 17" with two slightly different sizes of tyre (for no apparent reason). It carried a yellow speed limiting sticker and was the same for all sizes of fitted wheel. Although there was much argument, the consensus seemed to be that the steel spare was legal but that an alloy spare should be the same diameter - try a search?

I think the steel wheels have a speed limiting sticker because they should have different wheel nuts.

Luckily my steel spare had the same size tyre as the other wheels, so when they wore down I bought a similar pattern alloy spare, switched the tyre off the steel spare onto an alloy and bought three matching new tyres, then kept the best of the old ones as my spare. I gave the steel rim away to another forum member. Another disadvantage of the steel spare is that the tyre never gets used, but it's still an expensive full spec tyre.
