My heart goes out to you Nick , nearly 40 years ago I went through a very similar experience when my Dad died on the floor in front of me , after suffering an inoperable brain tumour for 6 months. Thanks all, today's been quiet hard, my mother stayed with my brother last night, as they had plans to go out for a meal, but that was cancelled to have time at his home, today they fetched her to mine as we were to have them for dinner and my son (11) had offered her his bed for as long as she needs it, proud dad moment.

The hardest part was giving her a drawing that I had done by a artist friend of them both, she broke down in happy tears saying it was amazing, the picture of dad was a great one, the one chosen of my mum was one he kept as a screen saver and posted regularly and I know he would have loved it too.

Today's come to a end, for all but me, as I sit watching TV smiling knowing my mums ok as she can be and we'll take each day as it comes

Lost my Dad suddenly several years ago.... The loss still hurts but it is well tempered with many good memories. His legacy lives on in his family.

My condolences to you on this sad and painful loss, and my hope is that you too will gradually recover the joy of his life over the sadness of his loss. And thanks for the good work you do here. I'm sure he is proud of you and your efforts.
