Hello, a good friend of mine has recently bought a Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto and has a few issues and hope you can help.

1. Intermittently we get a warning "Terrain Response Not Available". When this is displayed the HDC appears to be working ok but we cannot select any terrain response settings. (also when the Terrain response is working, 2 of the bulbs around the selector dial are not lighting up, possibly just the bulbs?)

2. When in sequential manual gear select mode on the auto box we can select 1st and 2nd but no other gears. In fully automatic mode, all is fine.

3. We also get a very intermittent warning along the lines of "Engine Power Restricted". This goes away very quickly and is rarely displayed. Engine powers seems absolutely fine.

4.Reversing sensors are not working.

Any advice re what is causing any of these faults would be greatly appreciated.

First thing I would check is that the battery is working @ 100%, as a FL2 will throw up many faults if the battery is failing

Reversing sensors... did / does the car have a tow bar fitted? If so and OEM style dedicated electrics have been removed without 'reprogramming' then (on my previous FL2 certainly) the reversing sensors won't work.

The OP appears to have a 2007 car.

Later cars (MY13>) are fully plug and play but the earlier cars needed 'programming' both after installation and after removal of OEM style electrics. Reversing sensors are one of the things affected.
