Heated seats

Asked this in another section and nobody knows so thought I would move it to a larger audience.

Hi, when I first switch on the heated seats both heaters go on, when I press the button again the back rest goes off and the base stays on, don't want a hot arse but having had back problems it would be nice if back rest stayed on, is there away to swop the wires over? would it work? if so where are they?
Cheers. Common sense isn't very common.

The heated seat module is under the seat for both driver and passenger and

You cannot swap plugs as the base plug is a 4 position plug and the back is a 2 position plug. Seat base heater pad has a thermistor circuit for regulating temperature hence the 4 position plug.

The heated seats runs on a LIN from the HVAC module. The 2 different temperatures are regulated by Amps and not 2 circuits within each pad.

I would suggest you take it to a dealer and ask them to diagnose the problem with SDD as there is a specific "service function" procedure for diagnosis of seat heater function and will tell you exactly what the problem is.

The system is not so simple as swapping the two plugs around. MY15

Thanks Stuartc, was hoping it would be easy but should have known better, there isn't an actual problem with it, all heated seats I've come across work the same way, would just had liked the backs to stay on
Wonder if I could disconnect the base heater just leaving the back one working? Common sense isn't very common.

The seat base heater mat has the thermistor in it so if you disconnect the plug I don't think anything will work as the LIN would most likely detect a fault and not activate the seat heater module.
The seat back and base should work together regardless of which of the two settings you have them on. MY15

There is different level settings in the ccf so maybe if you go to your nearest dealer they may change the ccf settings to a cooler setting! MY15
