Me too. Seems that there are folk on here who have Land rover stamped on their bones. Those of us new to the brand seem to be treated with disdain. Like Captin, I too have found the same question LF of FA when searching for bits and pieces. Who, therefore, are the fools ? I did not ask the original question just for the sake of asking. Purely because certain suppliers ask you is it one or the other? Not rocket science so some Constructive comments would be welcome, and please stop assuming that, just because we are 'Newbies' to Land Rover, that we are new to motoring matters. Thank you. |

The first 3 characters are either the manufacturers designation or the build factory

I would have thought that giving you the 'De Facto' Land Rover decoding of the VIN number should have been enough to satisfy whether there are FA or LF variants, certainly, according to the VIN, it would seem there are not.

Sorry to start this up again but I just noticed today that according to the Dutch RDW (SVA in UK?) my FL2 (a 2012 TD4 Auto) is of the LF type.

It is most likely a third party parts supplier differentiation, it certainly doesn't fit with any LR codes.

I've asked more than one Land Rover dealer parts departments and they have no idea what LF or FA could be, it doesn't correspond with anything they have. |

This seems to be something specific to eBay (and possibly some other suppliers). It's not an 'official' designation, and your VIN number clearly shows that in Land Rover terms your car is an FA! |
