Was discussed on here a few times already. As Stuart mentioned all the wiring harnesses are different, not to mention the other components.

Or just buy a map! We recently had some visitors from Oz who hired a car at Heathrow and took several hours longer than usual to get to us. They had driven all over the place following the sat nav (Bath, Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral etc). When we had a look at the settings it looked as if the previous hirer had set it up to only go on "B" roads looking for places of interest and they just followed it blindly ! 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Maps are great technology, I drive around Australia with them. Also drive around Europe for months on end, & more to the point in Italy without street names! You know it keeps your IQ up to par, exercises for the brain!

The GPS in my Jag uses accelerometers, vehicle speed & steering angle sensor to follow where you are if there's no satellite coverage. I'll be fine |

Interesting, do you have any idea how accurate it is without GPS satellite corrections every so often? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It's not super-accurate, but it's pretty good considering the tech in it 15 years old now.

The FL2's satnav is pretty accurate in tunnels, pulling the caravan through the Frejus tunnel between France and Italy for just over 8 miles under the Alps, it was spot on and approaching the exit the icon was with it all the way. Obviously algorithms and data from the car gave it it's smooth update although it was showing no GPS available. |

Agree with Dorset above - unless your moonlighting for MyHermes, a commercial traveller or rep calling on customers hither and thither can't really see the point of sat navigation at all sorts if silly money. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

The HDD Satalite Navigation in the later Freelander 2 is an impressive piece of kit! There are many options for planning your trip both off-road and onroad. If GPS is lost it tells you and continues to track your progress from onboard sensors.
