Hi all, I'm trying to solve my abs/no hdc warning light and my icarsoft tells me it's a rear wheel sensor.

Bought a replacement sensor, no change. Swapped sensors over from left to right and no change. Finally traced it to a 'dodgy' bit of DIY soldering at the plug connection under the wheel arch.

Can any help? I'm trying to source a replacement connector same as in the picture...

If you can't get a replacement connector I would probably cut both connectors off and solder the wires in permanently. That way you won't have any more connector issues and at least you know where to go if there is a problem again. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Yep, that was my solution. I think the only alternative is to buy the complete loom but thar will be ´megabucks'

Is there a way of testing the hub to see if it is 'damaged'?

I've still got my abs/hdc light coming on - icarsoft still tells me it's a rear right sensor. Tracked down the bad connection (as pic above) so have now soldered the joint. No change.

why did the original connector fail. was it burned out? I would now be looking at the condition of the ABS sensor on that axle. I assume it's just a coil which picks up a signal from a magnet in the drum. Did you test it for continuity before you soldered it in?

Actually just had a look in Haynes manual and it says that if a new sensor is fitted then it "must be configured using their diagnostic equipment (or equivalent)" so I wonder if having reconnected it after running with the sensor out of circuit has made the system think you have put a new sensor in? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I tried all three abs sensors on the rear left hub - all three work according to my icarsoft, with no error code on any.

Original connector had been soldered close to the plug, almost to the last mm before it goes into the insulation- soldering broke and cannot be resoldered as it is too close to the plug - I've cut the plug connector off.

I will try and check resistance and attempt to trace back to the abs unit so I can isolate the problem.

I think you need to research the "if a new sensor is fitted then the abs must be configured ...." . There must be a reason for saying this and the fact that you don't have an error code might not be relevant. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

You may be correct, and I may need ti get it 'configured'. However, I changed a sensor on my F1 a couple of years ago and it reset itself (no abs warning light) after I drove about 50m. I guess the F2 is a bit more sophisticated...

I do get the option of clearing fault code(s), which I do, but still get the same error when I try another fault diagnostic.

After a huge palaver, a trip to the scrappy, scratching my head and an hour+ in the rain.... I have it.

I had two things to 'fix' on the same circuit which made it a bit harder. The connector for the wheel sensor (vehicle side) had a broken wire, and the main connector to the Haldex had a bad connection. Went right back to the beginning of my rear diff change to find the link.

Yep, still scratching my head on this one.....

Since buying the car:

Changed the rear shocks as need for French MOT- passed.
Changed rear diff as it went in the first week of ownership (during long run to Belgium)
Replaced a dodgy connector on a rear wheel sensor plug.
Added a secondary earthing strap (battery to starter motor)
Tried three ABS sensor cables on a working wheel to check all are operational.

I still get either abs not working, HDC not available or special functions not available, and the fault points to a dodgy rear right wheel sensor- which I know is working OK....

If I plug in my icarsoft I can clear the codes and all is well, until I leave overnight then I get the same variety of error codes. If I clear the codes again all is well.

Is it possible the icarsoft does not clear the code(s) in the same way as Landrover dealers might do? Only dead fish go with the flow

Anyone have any ideas?

I've just reset all/any error codes and all is working as it should. Taken it for a test drive 30kms, and through the forest to check the traction control and finally to the car wash...

So far no issue, but in the morning I am pretty sure I will have the same message in the dashboard : HDC not available and the abs and Amber brake warning light Illuminated. Sure, I can erase the error codes again but something isn't right

TBH no, I couldn't find anything in a search - that may be the next step...

What has confused me is the car is working perfectly now, but probably wont be in the morning. I guess the icarsoft has it's limitations. I will ask the main Land Rover dealer tomorrow if it is the case that I have to take it to them. Only dead fish go with the flow
