Gearbox fault limited traction.

Hi,
I had this fault appear today after an eco restart at the traffic lights, (Gearbox fault limited traction ) I turned the ignition off and back on, still there and no function available on terrain selection. When I got home and left it switched off for a couple of minutes it has reset and everything is functioning normal it's still under dealer warranty (not Landrover) not sure wether to take it back with no fault showing any suggestions?

Must be worth taking it back if it's under a warranty, they should be able to plug it in and check for any faults logged?

I had the same fault on mine recently, it was fixed with a Haldex oil and filter change, If it's under warranty though I'd deffo go down that route and save yourself some cash Thumbs Up

Likewise, had this happen two years ago. Fault was intermittent at first, then became permanent. The issue lies with the Haldex center coupling unit, not the rear diff itself. When the fault occurs, the vehicle will cut the power going to the rear wheels, essentially making the FL2 a front wheel drive vehicle (you can always verify this on a wet grassy incline Wink) . I've been told it won't cause damage to drive the vehicle with the fault present, which I did for about 800kms before getting it fixed.

In my case, just like paxman, had to get a new Haldex pump installed.

I've been to the dealership this morning (JCT600) they are going to arrange to send it into the Landrover dealership to be checked out. Thumbs Up

My car has LR warranty so the Haldex pump and fluid were covered. I requested the invoice and was shone of near £400 to LR. The car has done 49300 miles so last week I had all the oil change for both front and rear diffs + gear box, cost came about £230. Car seems to run better or may be it was my imagination Very Happy

I'll post the outcome, the local Landrover dealership has always been pretty good and helpful when needed in the past apart from cost but I won't be paying for this one.

Excellent service from Gordon Lamb, as suspected the haldex pump has been replaced and I had a brand new Discovery sport as a courtesy car. Thumbs Up

Gearbox fault traction reduced

Had the Gearbox fault traction reduced message,on and off all weekend suspected the haldex pump had failed,so the car was taken back to the dealer, only to find no fault codes logged and the message has not shown again, any ideas?

Did they run any diagnostics? If not I would go back and ask them to look again as it is more than likely the pump, my friends evoque did exactly the same and the dealership told him there was nothing wrong, ended up taking the car to another dealer for a second opinion.

Thanks for your reply, they did a diagnostic test and no faults were shown,so they have now replaced the filters which had collected some debris and fitted a new haldex pump and fluid,so hopefully it will be ok now.
