OK so this might be a bit extreme if you don't already have the Japanese market mirror mount on your FL2 but I assume you could buy the mount (part number 3044-018 but I can't find any reference to this on line) and drill the holes.

all I know is that its a legal requirement on Japanese cars, but ive only ever seen them on 4x4/SUV imports over here.

Legal requirement in Japan so you don't accidently run over a toddler (aka little person) standing hidden below the bonnet sight line.

Over here this would not comply as you can't have any protrusions which present a danger to other road users. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Two points to note, it actually does not protrude beyond the front bumper and the original mount is approved as frangible I.E it breaks off on impact with a pedestrian. The modifications do not alter that. 2008 Freelander 2 i6 Alaska White - current
