LR assistance to the rescue!

We our 63 plate Freelander started losing power, so LR Assistance were called. Told he would be with me by three pm. They then called back to say he could not get to me so I could have the AA now or LR Assistance in the morning.
I opted for the LR option, and he duly turned up at 9.00am. Plugged computer in and diagnosed a faulty EGR. Tried resetting and then we went for a test drive. No better so off we went to the main dealers. Interesting journey!
Now have a 16 plate Discovery Sport, HSE, complete with a tow bar, so we can continue with our journey. We are touring Yorkshire with our caravan!
Ours will be returned to us, wherever we are when it is fixed.
I call that service, although ours should not have broken down to start with! 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

That's great service, friends of mine left a site in Norfolk yesterday with van in tow , the broke down an hour from the site , green flag took 6 hrs to get to them , they got dropped off at some services and were told to wait for another green flag recovery truck , it turned up at 10pm .. they left the campsite at 9 am, they never got home until 1am . Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

They are lucky
A work college is with the RAC, his X-trail destroyed it's transfer box in Northern France 4 weeks ago, they have full cover so the RAC will bring the car and van back home - eventually. The RAC did provide a hire car to get them to the ferry, and another to get home.

Like I said they have been waiting 4 weeks for the RAC to deliver the car and van, apparently they will be back in Chester on the 26th !

I have said if they are not back by then he can borrow Clementine, to drag the van back. He borrowed Clementine this week to nip home at lunch time and spent the next couple of evenings looking for a FL2 auto in autotrader. Apparently the FL2 is a nicer drive. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

The LR Assistance guys work for the AA and if they are not dealing with a LR they will get called to any other breakdown. We have had them out several times and the service is excellent. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

The L R Assistance man who came to us was an employee of JLR, and only worked on Jaguars and Land Rovers! Did not have a good comment about the AA! 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

When was that? My guy came last year in a JLR van and said that they had all been transferred to the AA payroll. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

My wife has reminded me that she thinks that he said that they were employed by JLR but paid by the AA. Sounds a bit weird but he certainly said that they have to go to non JLR stuff if they were free. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

The chap who came to me was showing me the kit in the van, whilst we were waiting for an up load to complete. He showed me the wheels they carry and they were only Jaguar and Land/Range rover ones. Likewise the rest of the kit was JLR stuff. 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

Yes that's exactly what I saw too. I have had them out 4 times, the first time in 2014 the guy had a Disco full of JLR kit then after that they all came with identical JLR vans (one was complaining that they often have to visit farms to sort out problems and the vans get stuck) 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

He was saying to me that the change from Discoverys to vans was due to needing more capacity to carry spares, in particular the wheels. 1998 300TDi Auto Disco, never to be forgotten.

Update on work college with car and caravan stuck in France

The car and caravan are still there - RAC are Censored useless, either they can't get a low-loader or the drivers are all out of hours.

He has had a cunning plan, hire a car, drive to France and pick up the caravan, then they just have to recover his car, which should be a strait forward job Question

Possibly, but he would have to pay for the hire car, the outward trip on the ferry and the return trip with the caravan, and all the fuel.
Want to add insult to injury, he can't lodge an official complaint until they have actually returned the car and caravan. Rolling with laughter

Shame really as he was to go on holiday this weekend with the kids.
Doesn't help some git keeps asking have you got the car back yet, welllll what are friends for Whistle Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
