Rear letters - TD4

Hi guys

I am trying to find some gloss black letters to replace the TD4 and HST badges on the rear of my freelander. I have searched high and low, google, auction sites etc but cannot find either specific purpose made replacement letters or even gloss black a-z letters.

I've done the front 'Land Rover', the 'Freelander 2' on the rear will be done tonight so the only remaining question is:

Do i replace the TD4 HST or simply remove it...

Any help appreciated!

Henry

you could remove the existing badges and spray them with gloss plasti dip paint or similar, then refit them

I had the same problem with my lowly GS
Decided to paint the letters which I did then decided to do without them altogether - the empty space to the right of the tailgate should be thought of as being akin to the empty plinth at Trafalgar Square - it is available for "special" projects Cool

I suspect that's what I'll do - polish and clean the area like mad and hope that 8 years worth of sunshine won't have faded the surrounding paint too much!

Slightly different car, similar badging, identical lettering. All removed and binned.

It's easier to clean, looks better (less cluttered) and makes life a little harder for the professional thieves too!

I took them off and binned the lot! Laughing

If the thieves are professional, I doubt if that will fool them. They probably know more about the spec. of your car than you do. 11 GS Bali Blue
07 GS FL2. Usually muddy. Gone
Numerous LRs since 1963

And how much attention are they likely to want to draw to themselves, while checking the minutiae of spec out, when they'd prefer to do it with a discrete night time drive-by?

A lot of manufacturers have got rid of this sort of labelling for good reason.

Didn't see any color change on my 2008 when it was done some weeks ago but please note every color reacts differently to sun light.

I once read a report about BMW saying that you could pay extra for the "delete badge option". In the UK it was generally only ordered for the bottom end models whilst in Germany it was usually ordered for the top end models. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

In Germany you can choose with or without when you order a new car with no extra charge.

I gave the dealer to remove mine, cost was only 30 euro
So i didnt bother to do it my self.

I was told (in Germany) that people do this so that they aren't seen to have a more expensive model than their boss. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
