Horn Sticking!!

Hi,
My FreeL2 seems to have developed a trivial yet somewhat serious problem.
the horn is sticking ON when i press it.
It first happened the other week when i went pick up a friend, my intention was to pip the horn when i arrived, however, it turned out to be a 5 minute blast!! I did find it amusing to start, until most of the street came out to investigate!
Again the other day, whilst driving I wanted to pip the horn, admittedly in anger, yet it stuck again and stayed stuck through a vigerous beating of the steering wheel. Eventually I had to pull over, hazards on, and keep moving/hitting the button until eventually what seemed like hours, it stopped!

Like i say it's not an overly seriously problem, but it could be!

RATHER EMBARRASING THOUGH!!

Has anyone experienced this, or doesanyone have any ideas/solutions??

Thanks!

Hi Guys
We've had our 57 FL2 one week and this happened to me yesterday whilst cruising along the M3 - it shocked me I can tell you.
My sticky button is the left hand one.

I plan to carry out the radio controls retrofit soon and so when I take the steering wheel apart I will have a close look and see if a bit of silicone lubricant (from Wickes plumbing section) will cure this.
Might also to do the cruise control mod as well so the problem might go away anyway.

Thumbs Up

Dead easy to pull apart and fix, there is a sticky mod on here telling you how.

I have a plain set, no criuse nor radio controls if anyone is after them.

Sticky horn - a fix

Got my steering wheel control modules this morning so set about fitting them.
Before I took it all apart the left hand horn button was sticky. Sad

Followed the instructions in the link above - very easy and doesn't take very long at all Mr. Green

But, when I finished I found the replacement right hand horn button was sticky and the left was fine Confused
Removing the airbag module showed that the horn button was not sticky at all so it must be interference between the edge of the airbag module and the horn button.

Looking closely at the edge of the airbag module showed that the rubber flared out ever so slightly.
So I took a craft knife and carefully trimmed less than a millimetre off the side and refitting showed that all is well now. Very Happy

Hope this helps someone else. Thumbs Up

Never had a problem with that myself, did have a sticky cream horn once but soon polished that off. Rolling with laughter

Found this topic after becoming a victim of this problem myself as I exited mine this morning!

Knew instantly what had happened, after violently tapping the bar in various places, eventually the button retreated.

That was embarrassing in the work car park at 06:30 this morning!

It was then that I found I've only got a single-tone horn.
Are there any recommended upgrades to a two-tone horn like other vehicles in the same league? "We're in danger, we've got to get out."
"What are you talking about?"
"I've been called a ponce."

There are two horns. Could be one of yours is not working? They are behind the front bumper and not easy to get at. Mine stopped working after a bit of a water splash. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Two horns? Ok. That's good to know.
Maybe that's the case with mine.

Currently, it sounds like a little Ford Fiesta horn.

Wonder if it is a quick fix...
Would an air-jet help? "We're in danger, we've got to get out."
