This was written in Red and was after a solid hours drive up the motorway and 30 minutes blasting along lanes, I suspect it is gearbox related as the changes are getting worse, not all the time and when stationery, apply epb and you get a real thump in the back as the box seems to select a gear?

Best tip for keeping DPF clean is use only branded fuel. Wife's previous Evoque used to throw up DPF fault everytime supermarket fuel used and ran fine on branded. 2014 SE Loire Blue SD4 Auto (MY15)

Been on Texaco, exclusively for last 15,000 miles, plus a little something, it flies, engine is free revving, sweet as a nut, I think my issue is gearbox related, I find it odd that the warning came up along with the message 'press OK to clear' as soon as I did this full power was restored.

Going back to the feeling of hitting ice, if the vehicle senses a significant slip or yaw angle, would it cause this?
I was travelling 40-50 mph, over a crest and the road was twisting, my first thoughts was ice as the feeling was strange. It that may be the loss of power.

Hopefully an error code or history will be present.

This wasn't fuel related. it was a dpf exhaust temp sensor that failed. There are three on the exhaust, they replaced two and then one failed again after a few months. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Supermkt fuel has a lower cetane rating than the main brand premium fuels.

I use a mixed tank alternating between BP Ultimate and ordinary BP stuff each fill. Ultimate BP fuel has a higher cetane rating like other main brand premium fuels, which means the fule burns fully, cleanly and makes for better cold starting (less pressure on battery) and all that means is less fowling of the EGR .... I used to use supermarket fuel but it fowls the EGR and is in the long term a waste of money.

Clean through with a good quality fuel improver and injector cleaner as well as getting your garage or DIY EGR cleaner. Makes a huge difference no black smoke when pressed hard, better cold starting, smoother engine and much more eager on the pedal as well as in the longer term lighter on the pocket.

Reduced Engine Performance

Hi

Just got this weird message on my dash, after noticing that the engine was not allowing me to speed beyond 80km/h.

Engine revs fine, auto-gearbox shifts fine, but the speed and engine throughput is restricted.

No other LEDs or lamps lit on the dash besides this message

Any ideas anyone?

cheers

I'm starting to think it might be contaminated diesel fuel?? I had a coupleocassions where the car jerked on slow revs these last couple weeks.

The only other thing is that there is a rattling sound when I accelerate, which kicks in along with the turbo hiss (before the speed restriction kicked in).

Very strange. All filters were changed out 6 months ago...

My 2011 model had a exhaust sensor problem with similar symptoms

Reduced Performance

Hi! Our 2007 manual disel freelander 2 has suddenly dropped in performance between the rev range of 2k - 3k. The vehicle is well maintained and only had a full service including genuine fuel filter in the past 6 weeks plus we always use Shell V-power. There is no sign of smoke when under load.

When sat still the engine rev's perfectly well throughout the range however on the road it just lacks power between 2k - 3k.

From what I've found in other posts it could be:

Fuel Filter - however recently changed.
Split pipes between the turbo and intercooler.
Throttle body

Is it worth getting a main dealer diagnostic? I have an OBD dongle and use the DashCommand App but I can only see a limited number of sensors etc. There are no error codes.

Any thoughts all welcome. 2007 LR Freelander 2 GS - factory tints, LR mud flaps, 2013 facelift)
Problems/solutions include: rear diff pinion replaced, stearing rack and pump replaced, alternator earth cable replaced (plus new alternator as misdiagnosed), throttle body replaced, MAP sensor replaced, secondary earth cable...

Worth reading up on the inter-cooler hose split (hard to find but do cause power loss) and also the throttle body - loads of posts on here for both
The other thing that occurred whilst I was reading your post was clutch slip - again should be loads on here to help

main dealer will only plug in the ECU and see what the computer says, save money and try a independent

Check hoses yourself, by wiping them and looking for a oil mist and cracking Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Throttle body should show up on a OBDII reader as over/under travel (but might not show as a major error, so no fault light), split hose / intercooler might not show, if the pressure loss is only marginal, but if major will show up as lack of boost pressure, again OBDII should show this.

Rather than LR main dealer I would try a LR specialist, just because if you do have a fault, the subsequent repair should be cheaper. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Same symptoms as when my Turbo pipe split but I knew there was something wrong because it made an horrendous noise when I put my boot down. The split in mine was right at the front in the vertical part of the pipe. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

Issue resolved. Took it in the LR and they found (and showed me) two slits in the turbo hose. Apparently they reckon these cars suffer from this every couple years??

That explained the gust-like spurts everytime I accelerated before the reduced engine performance kicked in.

Thanks for the help guys!
