One of my dislikes about our FL2 is the seating position insofar as the front of the seat base seems to tilt down which because of my height gives no support under my thighs.

The handle/lever to raise/lower the seat manually height only raises the back of the seat base which makes the problem worse.

The car has third party seat heaters fitted, is it possible that whoever fitted them up re-fitting the seats? of does the height adjustment only alter the height of the rear of the seat?

I think? raising the height of the seat moves it forwards slightly due to how the mechanism works??
When you have it the correct height you then have to move it back slightly??

I can't get the seat to what would be the correct height for me because raising the seat only raises the back of the seat base, which makes the front far to low to be comfortable.

Did you solve ths ? I am looking for a fix for this problem too. I am 2m tall and can sit fine in my D3. I can sit OK in the autobox FL2, but not in the manual. I found a shop who wants to look into it, but they ask € 350- € 500 for two pieces of metal to raise the seat 5 cm... No, I never did find a solution, I just put up with the discomfort.

Many, many years ago, I was looking to buy a Discovery and decided against it for exactly this reason but didn't notice it on the FL2 test drive.

If you do find a solution, please let me know.

Have you tried a HSE/HSE Lux seat with the extra electric adjustments, raise lower front and rear etc

Might be able to retro fit one from a breakers yard Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Unfortunately there aren't many LR Breakers in France. I need to get the side of the seat re-foamed in the near future so will see if the upholster can also raise the front.

Being a bit bored, I've just taken some measurements on my manual seat adjustment.

From lowest to highest position:
The seat moves 90mm forward, the front raises by 10mm and the rear by 90mm, which as I said above just makes the seat base tilt worse.

I noticed the same issue, and I have a couple of ideas.

You'll see photos and instructions on how to remove just the seat base. I was going to look and see if spacers could be inserted between the frame and seat base at the two forward bolt locations. If the bolts are long enough, I'd source longer ones.

Additionally or alternatively, the four bolts that mount the seat to the floor might be worth looking at. Loosen the back two, remove the front two bolts and use spacers to raise the rail and change the tilt of the entire frame. Source longer bolts if necessary.

@ Still Lost in France. On friday I'll go to a guy who can fit two tubes in the construction to raise the whole chair 3 cm ánd to move it 10cm back. This may sound like a lot, but I'll still use -almost- most "up" position, meaning the chair moves forward for about 5cm... So only '5-out-of-10' cam is left...

The chair has now two 5cmx2cmx0,2cm steel tubes between the seat and the consoles...

The result is better as expected ! I do not have to put it all the way back [2cm left], also not all the way up !

I can stretch my leg, the top of the seat is in line with my upper leg, my knees more then 100-degree angle, perfect...

All this thanks to a great mechanic that is to modest to be mentioned by name..

It has not be primed or painted, it will turn nostalgig brown over time. So have it painted before you start work on it..

Running a diagnostic today and reading the complete car configuration, I noticed an item titled 'Driver Knee bolster' and under the 'fitted' column read 'Driver Knee Inflatable Bolster'

Anyone know what this is? or how it works.

Thanks for this useful post. There must be someone out there that could make a kit available for this common problem. I've still got to get this sorted, as this is the only issue I have with the driving experience. On another note my Son has just acquired a disco sport and I was again reminded of how low you sit in it.
