Excuse my ignorance here but what exactly can you do with these Rolling Eyes If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

If the car goes into limp mode you can plug this in and read the error code. or you could take it to the local garage and they will then charge you £45 to run a diagnostic. and then clear the codes and tell you its fixed.
Or you could use this reader - get the code , then clear the code, car goes back to running normal unless there really is an issue.
Quite often the error code can be thrown by a dodgy sensors and these sensors are generally very easy to buy and replace.

So basically you can diagnose some issues which the car can develop, then make a call on how to fix them.

Hope that helps.

Generally those kind of readers read only the generic error codes, like powertrain error codes.
The powertrain errors, in a way, are standardized and all manufacturers must use them, especially the emission related one.
In this way, any mobile audit crew, from authorities in charge, can stop motorists and use the same tester for important things like emission violations.
It will be unpractical to have for each manufacturer a different and particular tester.
But outside these rules, the manufacturers are free to use any error codes and any way of addressing their car's ECUs/modules.
And here comes in action a real, dedicated to the marque, tester.
So, yes, it may be a good piece of tool to have, but only if you want/need to know a particular set of error codes. But it's not the real deal and the price is reflecting this.

a good price indeed, I got this one a few years back (when it was a bit cheaper)for my Honda Civic.

It works fine on the Landy.

Hi all
Do they all read and clear codes or just read?
If anyone can recommend one that does both at a good price I’d appreciate any advice.
Many thanks Brgds

Hi,
as said above ^ also may be worth noting a lot of times they are for "engine only codes" so can do nothing for suspension transmission ect like an IID can

they may be limited but they have there place Thumbs Up a car I had put the engine light on straight after an oil change on a new to me car (prob becuase I used the correct spec oil Rolling Eyes ) bought the device, read the code, cleared the light all was good and did save a trip to the garage to clear it

Not got a FL2 YET Whistle so no idea what works on these

Thumbs Up
