Swirl Flap Removal - Reduced Engine Braking

Hi All
Had the swirl flaps removed last week when it had its service.
Have noticed that the engine braking is not as good as it was before - anyone else had similar experience?

No I have not noticed that in mine at all, mind you I have an auto so engine braking isn't the best anyway.

I'm told later FL2s dont have swirl flaps - is this correct ?

If so when did the change occur and which versions TD4/SD4 ? Jules

I have a 2009 and my swirl flaps are there, but their "command" is already invalidated, therefore they are always open.
So you can consider that from 2010 they are missing altogether.

My FL2 is January 2010 build and the swirl flaps were present - now removed. Its fairly easy to check if you have a manifold that has them fitted.

Not noticed any reduction in engine braking. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
Evoque SD4 Auto Blue.
FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone.
RR Classic V8 EFI - Gone

I swapped my inlet manifold for one without swirl flaps (from a Peugeot 2008 if I remember correctly) last year at the same time as replacing fuel filter and glow plugs and I never noticed any reduction in engine braking afterwards. I wouldn't say that there wasn't any reduction, just that, if there were any, it wasn't enough for me to notice.
