Darren widgemaster Daniels is still on the go?
I thought he retired when they brought out the Widgeatron 5000?

The logical thing to do is use a "zipper" method of merging at the point of merging.
The that only works if the cars are going slow. If you are merging into one lane at speed then you need to change into the one remaining lane much earlier which now leaves that lane open for "complete and utter bounders" to zoom to the front.

Its an interesting example of how human communication changes when you are placed inside a car and the usual signals of eye contact and body language are unavailable - this seems to often induce a sense of outrage. In the main people wouldnt behave like this in the street - depends upon which street i suppose. Jules

The problem is that those who annoy everyone by charging past to the very end will eventually work their way in even if blocked by the first few cars. They aren't committing any offences either that I'm aware of.

However, if a car chooses to block such drivers like the video example, can they face a penalty for obstruction? Even without that, I wouldn't block anyone because you never know who you are dealing with. You could be blocking someone who has the attitude that they can do what they like on the roads but nobody can oppose them. As such they may get out of their car to assault you or proceed to follow you to get revenge.

Better to hope they get caught by the police doing something else like driving whilst on their phone etc. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Eh ? I have not said "what sign"

>>If a lane is closing there are always 400, 300 , 200 & 100yrd signs signs giving you warning.
I know....because I said "The are no signs that say the lane is closed, there are signs that give you a descending distance to the point the lane closes"

>>Look to merg when you see the first sign , if the traffic is doing 50mph , slowing down a little to let someone in doesn't effect the flow
I know...because I said " If its free flowing traffic then you obviously want to merge in early as your travelling at speed, I'm obviously not advocating driving along at 50mph up to the cones and then driving up the line of cones at 50mph like a game of Tron"
But this thread is not about free flowing traffic, its about traffic that's crawling along.

>>but if some chancer or some arse can't read the sign then drives up to the cones the traffic will stop
I have never seen anyone try to do that at speed.

(I think you need to go back and read what I have said.)

Well I have quoted the head of the Institute of Advanced Motoring who was quoting the Highway Code, and I have shown Signs produced by the Highways Agency but it doesn't seems to be getting through. If you want to make up your own rules and then get annoyed when people don't follow them or because they don't queue on the road like they do in the local bank then fair enough.

Its been fun but I'm not going to spend anymore time on this thread, there are wrongs being committed elsewhere that need to be righted.

maybe Im sad but I enjoy letting people in, when all is fair, you get a nice wave and a smug Im so generous sort of a feel.

But iI also enjoy being a road warrior , blocking people who try and make there own rules when the need arises. At work

There is always a sign telling you what lane is closed & how far away it is

The reason the traffic is crawling along is because people drive up to the cones then expect to be let in , thus the traffic stops

>>but if some chancer or some arse can't read the sign then drives up to the cones the traffic will stop

Who said at speed? Speed is relative , if the queue is doing 30mph , someone going up the soon to be closed lane at 40mph to me is at speed.

Indeed. Manners cost absolutely nothing Thumbs Up

Guy in the Merc is a plank, but the driver of the Renault caused a major issue that was easily avoidable
