Service Plan - conned or deluded? | |
I'm in the 2nd year of a 4 yr LR service plan offered by my dealer in 2014 for £336 p.a on my 2007 FL2 SE Auto, which I thought was a really good deal. I've just had my 9th annual service which includes a cam-belt change. On collecting the car I discovered they have billed me for an extra £240 labour + VAT, plus fluids & parts cost for the cam-belt part of the service, saying this is normal.
Well it may be normal to them, but I clearly recall asking if the service agreement included all servicing costs & MOT, both of which were confirmed at the time. The written agreement certainly makes no mention of extra cost any scheduled service item. It does of course exclude normal wear and tear items like tyres, brakes, exhaust etc.
Afte a long discussion I agreed to pay the extra for now, but demanded they remove all the fluid costs, which they did. I also said I'd check here about the other aspects, and may be back in due course.
So, fellow forum members, what is your understanding and experience of LR service agreements for older FL2s? Should the payments include all items listed as part of a regular scheduled service and I've been conned, or am I deluded in my expectation that a service is a service as per the handbook and everything should be covered by the plan. Your advice & comments pls. Life is not a dress rehearsal!
