Hope you find it The "missing engine" I mean. Apologies but 3 pints and a bottle of white on a sunny evening brings out that little in me even more. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Well...thanks for looking but in lieu of any sensible thoughts I'll probably just leave it for the dealer to take a view. |

Our auto has done 170k, so your mileage does seem low for an auto box failure.

Has the box ever been serviced? (dont take the word of the LR dealers that it "sealed for life" and therefore its not on the service schedule). Any serious transmission company would suggest a service at around 50/60k or even less. I spoke to Mackies of Glasgow about the Aisin box as soon as I bought my 09 FL2 in Feb with 54k on the clock and it will be going in soon. With your symptoms I would get it to a reputable auto servicing shop as soon as possible. 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)

There is a software update for the jolt when you shift from reverse to drive (or vice-versa). I am not sure it applies to your age of vehicle but I had it done on my 2014 SD4 HSE. When I read about the lumpiness and you mentioned that it was like the engine 'missing', I wondered if it could be the engine hesitation brought on by high ambient temperatures (was it warm that day?). This has been extensively reported on this forum. Having said all that, I believe it was only an issue on facelift models. Good luck getting it sorted.
