Reversing caravan uphill onto pitch yesterday and noticed clutch burning smell. Clutch worked fine but pedal stayed part way depressed, and all seems OK today. Is the clutch pedal meant to do this as some kind of self adjustment, or does it mean I've just burnt a load off the clutch plates? It's a2013my done 36k.

I killed my clutch reversing an empty 3000kg trailer up a hill. I can't recall the precise mileage but it was circa 100,000 on the original clutch.

There was a bad clutch burnt smell and the pedal was down half way. Seemed OK for about a week, then it started to slip.

All that you read about reverse gear being too high a ratio are not lies. I found out the hard way.
