Apart from one cd player that I bought in the 80's and is still going strong, every cd or dvd player I have had in my house (in computers, TV or Hifi) has failed after 3 or 4 years. If you google the problem you will find that it's the most common reason for scrapping hifi systems. Sometimes you can open up the box and tweak a potentiometer to put a bit more current through the laser but basically you are on borrowed time when the laser is having trouble reading the TOC (table of contents) which is on the inside track. On some players you can sometimes get the thing to play if you keep hitting the next track button whilst it's still reading the TOC. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Sounds daft, is the format of the cd right? I put some of my music on a CD that was formatted as a storage device and the FL2 wouldn't read it. Reformatted the CD as a disc (only 80 songs per disc now ) but the radio plays it correctly now. |

Not sure on your model if you can hook in to another medium like a Ipod or memory stick but if not I would spend my money on converting to that rather than buy a new unit as I never bother with my CD's now. Having said that I don't have mapping discs. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

It sounds like your problem is laser related but this maybe worth a try it worked for me with a cd problem. With ignition off remove stereo fuse from rear of car, start car then replace fuse, good luck. |

Best bet for you is to move into the 21st century. Use your PC to record all your CDs as MP3 and put them on your Cell phone and use that to play through the car stereo. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE |

The problem with that is that the Premium sound system will only utilise the full Dolby Surround 13:1 set up when playing from discs.

I suppose there's only so much that can be done with a 3.5mm jack plug. For me, with some Tinnitus, it's good enough.
