United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 TD4_e SE Manual Orkney Grey

Why would you need something to tell you which way your wheels are pointing? I find it obvious when youre the one driving, but I know folk can become confused.
I saw an off road tv program with Tony Mason Rolling Eyes at the wheel of a Land Rover, he said I cant tell if the wheels are straight ahead or not (even though the the steering wheel and its Land Rover badge was upside down) .

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Tambora Flame

For the reasons given in a previous post.....

As you pop out of the mud and ruts you won't necessarily know whether your wheels are pointing left or right. As you suddenly gain traction with the front, the car could veer suddenly in a direction you weren't expecting.

Given your example, Tony could have worked out the wheels weren't pointing straight ahead, but with the steering wheel upside down, he had no idea if the front wheels were pointing left or right.....hence the indicator on the info display.

I have just purchased my first Land Rover Freelander 2 on a 07 plate and have only had it a month.
I had to use the terrain setting MUD RUTS on Sunday and for a few seconds no more than 3 a symbol of a axil appeared. Could anybody tell me what this represents as I am unable to locate it in the hand book.

Thanks Razz

I saw the same symbol, while driving in sand. It's an axis with something in the centre showing 4 wheels. I guess it's related to the rear diff being locked or something like that.

Sorry I did not mention it... I have a freelander 2, 2009, TD4 Auto.
The symbol appears for just a few seconds, so I was not able to take a picture of it.

I'm back with news... I was stuck in mud last week, I got that symbol again, and YES, you're right, it shows where front wheels are pointing to.
Sorry for the confusion.

Juan
