No need to start the engine - just insert the key and press the start button for a few seconds without pressing the clutch/brake and the ignition will come on. Press again to turn off.

Alternatively you can open all the windows by pressing and holding the unlock button on the remote. (Similarly press and hold lock button to lock car and close any open windows.)
