Did you get the CJB that was part of the donor wiring?

If you replace all of your wiring and ECUs with those from the donor car you shouldn't need to program them as everything will already be switched on. BUT, you will also inherit the donor car's identity, including its mileage reading. I'm not sure what the legal implications of that would be, but it's something to bear in mind. You may also have problems as some components will be of a different specification from that expected by the HSE ECUs (aircon, audio, terrain response, etc).

Thanks PAB. (See your from the Pennines, anything chance you have the necessary diagnostics etc to get hands on with this if required?) What other ECU's/Modules are there.

Vin locked ECU's can be unlocked but it's far easier to make sure the ECU's locked to the donor car/CJB come along with the wiring.

Sorry, no, nor do I know anyone with suitable kit. Note, btw, that the earlier FL2 keys cannot be reprogrammed - you would need to program new keys to the car which would also require diagnostic gear as well as new unprogrammed keys. |

I have already gone through a range of emotions on this. I left to pick up a osr light and some wiring that I could hard wire up from the side that burnt and came back 10 hours later with a van full of interior and wiring looms, heater matrix etc. Shouldv'e seen the wifes face. Not sure what she will say when she sees me drilling into the roof to fit the Shark Fin Aerial !! |

For that vintage, I'm pretty sure as long as you keep the CJB, PCM (engine module), IPC (instrument cluster) all together then it should work. The rest can be interchanged and configured within the CCF. But as PAB says, if you are using most of the donor vehicles wiring/modules, it should just work.

Could have been worse - you could have had the full leather electric memory seats, memory mirrors with dip on reverse, multi-CD audio with umpteen speakers... Or, since you've got to cut a hole in the roof anyway, how about the sunroofs? Just kidding about the sunroof btw... |
