Third high level light on tail gate

Just noted the high tail gate light is not tight against the seal, water will easily get in and down to the locking mechanism etc. Big Cry

Can it be flipped out from the outside or do you need to take the internal covers off ? Will need to try and seal back in with non acid silicone I guess. Rolling Eyes FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

They're not a very good fit on. Mines been back to the dealer twice to have a replacement so fingers crossed it's third time lucky

Took it apart this morning. You can flip the light out using fingers once the cover is off. Had to retrieve the two outer cover clips from the tailgate, long flat screwdriver seemed to do the trick.

Seal worse than useless and all very mucky. Good clean and decided to clean and refit the old seal using silicone on the outer seal side only leaving a drain section in the lower line of the silicone seal line. Reason for not fitting with just lots of silicone being mess and if the bulb goes I will need to get the unit off again and the light should come off without shattering.

Now I have seen it, if the seal is sold separately I think using two seals to get a tight fit could be a good fix to avoid silicone use.

Will soon know how its gone when I wash the Rover next. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Mine has just started leaking again (sigh). Still (just) under warranty, so I'll let the garage do it this time. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I believe there's a TSB on this - involves fitting a thicker gasket.
