Hi Im going to buy a rear spoiler for Flora

It will come unfinished, so does anybody know how much paint I will need to spray it?

If you are really efficient with 150g spray cans you will cover about 0.5 m2 maximum. I would always have twice what you need. Also have the other spray cans ready to go just in case one blocks as you are painting. Nothing worse than interruptions while painting.

Mount the part so you can paint around it. Don't forget to shake cans for a full 2 minutes. Paint takes a week to fully harden. Be very very patient. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

This question reminds me of the time I wallpapered my hall. Not knowing how many rolls of paper I needed, I asked my neighbour who has the same size hall how many rolls he bought when he did his. "Nine" he said. Anyway, I papered the hall and had three rolls left over. When I told him he said "That's strange, so did I". Whistle Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

If you're planning on using aerosols, I wouldn't bother. I got my last rear spoiler plastic primed and painted, along with all four side rubbing strips, by a local bodyshop, for £120. Not only was it a fair price, but it gave me a finish and durability that I could never have got close to with aerosols.

At £120 I would get someone to get it done simply because people don't know how to get the best out of spay cans.

I also have my own manual spray can filling machine for matching colours but when I can, I use off the shelf cans because they are so cheap if buying a dozen or so.

Probably gone through about 2000 cans! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

You're right there; I have no idea how to get a good finish from a spray can! I'm always impressed where people can Thumbs Up
