Both drivers are guilty of driving without due care and attention:

The car/caravan driver for not preparing his exit in good time and failing to take account of the vehicles to his left.
The HGV driver for clearly accelerating to close the gap between him and the car in front to prevent the car/caravan from getting in front and hence not being a safe stopping distance from the vehicle in front.

Both drivers were guilty of causing an accident that was wholly avoidable.

My guess is they both got reported and the insurance companies split the difference and paid for their own repairs. Meanwhile thousands of other motorists probably got delayed for hours because of these two idiots.

I'd generally agree with the above pic, but when it's some Censored in an Audi or beamer who rockets up past everyone because he can't wait patiently.... good luck to him!

merging and taking advantage are two separate things, overtake a long lane and expect to be let in at your peril. At work

If drivers merged at the point where the road actually goes into one lane, rather than at the 2 mile warning there wouldn't be a long empty lane for them to overtake in.

i agree with CG, if everyone is left lane waiting and Mr BMW blasts down the outside to push in.... no chance

but if everyone used both lanes and merged in turn... life is happy Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The zipper analogy is spot on. The car on the right is at the end of the zipper, where the C*** is usually found.
