Hi, managed to acquire a pair of xenons at long last, and fitted them.. but then I noticed that the passenger side inside frame is not touching the headlight frame like the drivers side one does... there is a good inch gap!

Is this something that has just slipped out and I can fix, or is the headlight worthless?

TBH, I dont recall if this gap should be there

Though it might be worth checking the beam pattern.
Below is a image from when I compared Xenons against Halogen - if it helps as a guide on the correct pattern.
Xenon is the right hand light

If you hav anything wildly different, it would suggest you do have a problem

The gap isn't there on the RH one, it sits flush and this looks as though it should too.

It may also be worth considering that xenons lens's are supposed to move as they self level.
(Self leveling tech is only fitted to cars that have factory standard xenons)

When retro fitted as an upgrade, usually self leveling inst available, so this may be a factor in why the lens looks out of place 

I believe these were non-adaptive although having looked at photos of others (LHD admittedly) but they both have gaps, so now I am wondering if the RH one is actually wrong.. too bright to tell yet but beam looks quite high. I wonder if these have the switch in them to adapt to straight beam for EU driving, and it is maybe engaged..

Ok - so this is my beam pattern from maybe 8-10 metres away.. regular or erratic?

The right hand one looks far too high and to the left. Take it to your local MOT station and ask them to align them for you. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Thanks - I did that.. £18 and they aligned the lamps. Left was a little low, but the right had come of the alignment bit so wouldn't move during the alignment.

He managed to sit it back on and connected the motor which should move it up and down when I adjust my lights manually, but said that the right side won't move.

To mitigate, he aligned them both in the middle of the min/max spectrum to counteract a car with passengers. He said that would be fine for MOT and suits me fine. I don't tend to tow anything so shouldn't pose an issue.
