Low beam dipped beam headlights stopped working.

Wife's 2010 Lr2, headlights stopped working tonight. It's the regular halogen lights, not the upgraded ones. High beams work, fogs work, all other lights work but no low beam in either the on or auto position. Checked fuse 9 in the glove box JB, and it's fine. (Headlight main beam). I did search and it would appear there is no dedicated fuse for the low beams? Anyone experience something like this? I guess the could have both burnt out in the Sam short time, but unlikely. I will check that to be sure.

Seems you may be on to something sir. Found a recent TSB applicable to my vin that describes the installation of "resistive cable wires" in the headlights of vehicles fitted with halogen headlamps where owners have complained about bulbs blown at a low time in service. Going to pick up a couple bulbs on the way home and have a look tonight. If they are indeed blown, I'll replace them and order the special resistive wires to install, or just keep a spare set of bulbs handy.

It's not always obvious that one headlight has blown - you still get a fair bit of light. Then if the other one goes it can seem that both went together. One of mine went recently and I didn't notice until I saw the reflection of the lights in a window while parking. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Thank again Freel2 contributors. Just had this exact failure. Normally if both sides don't work it would be a system failure (fuse, relay, short). I have never had a double headlight bulb failure. Everything is relative to my point of view
