Test Drive tomorrow FL2 2007 77k AUTO TD4

got a test drive tomorrow on a FL2 auto
GS Trim, with two keys , 2 previous owners,
has towing bar on back.
is like a Lilac in colour( im not amazed by this colour)
price is 8995 is take it this is about the going rate atm? think i could knock him down £500?

What am i looking for tomorrow whilst test driving, i mentioned rear diff today and he tried telling me that was a problem with the older style fl2...

I was really after a HSE trim, but the sat navs are outdated and i dont think the extra 2k is worth it...

Is there anything i can specifically test?

Criteia it must be an AUTO and diesel.

Sorry if this has come up before i bet it has! but needed it more personal.
Cheers Garry at Skipton

Generally, make sure everything works, meaning try out everything. For instance, I've replaced the tailgate latch twice on my '08 - known (minor) issue with FL2s. So try every door, window, glovebox, dash lights, etc.

Like many have indicated, look out for the Haldex and see if any work has been done on it.
Wear items (esp. tires)... See how they're doing. A new set of tires will cost as much if not more than fixing something Wink
Look for rust in the underbody, see how well it's doing (make sure it hasn't been abused offroad).

Everything I'm saying has probably been mentioned by others in the forum, but it's just what comes to my mind right now.

To round off, I'd say trust your instincts. You'll usually "feel" if it's right for you or not.

Cheers

Buy a cheap one if you need it, & chuck it when it's useless.

I'd have thought you could get a HSE for £9K. I sold my 2008 HSE last October for £9250 and that had a whole host of extras - xenons, steps, spoiler, mats, side strips, silver sparkle wheels, mud flaps, spats, clear side indicators etc. Admittedly the sat nav on these aren't up to much but it's not just the satnav that comes on the HSE - there's a sunroof, heated leather seats with armrests, 18" wheels and possibly a few other bits. Remember, this time of the year with 4x4's it's a buyers market, not a sellers and your seller will know that! Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

Looking at Autotrader there are quite a few out at Nine Grand but mileage is more like 60,000 or less with FSH one owner etc. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

your buying a nine year old Landrover, so expect a few problems, and some may be a bit expensive.

of course you may be handy with the tools, which will help.

I bailed out of the sale , wife wasn't happy with the colour
She likes gold, black or white(there isn't many white autos pre 2010 for sale)
A BMW x3 3.0 caught my eye today.

Wasn't impressed with dealer only let me take car up and down a road outside dealership and tried forcing me into the sale with no discount.

I'm in no rush at all will just wait for the right one

I paid £3500 for an 07 XS auto with 126k on it. It needed 3 tyres and a good clean. It also had full service stamps up yo 120k. Been running a dream until it dropped into reduced power mode this week. Checked the error code its showing P2562 which is over boost. Looks like the variable vanes on the turbo were sticking, took 30mins to service today. Been out for a good burn and all seems well.
I'd say 9k for an 07 is way too high, even with full service something will crop up. As others have said you need to check everything on it, even then you will find something goes wrong, and unless you can diy then it will cost, so look for the model you want and buy cheap.
