Can vouch for Port Appin sea food platter for two highly recommended.
Fort William has been a dump for at least 40 years, it's there to catch tourists travelling up the west coast and again on the way back Laughing my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I would disagree, 40 years ago Fort William was a thriving tourist venue and a great place to stay for a few nights.

it's now sadly a place to avoid.

Started travelling through Fort Bill in 1976 it wasn't great then, though trying hard it was a dump, it hasn't got any better, infact worse, and they've given up trying. Just comparing now with 40 years ago didn't make it thriving, there was nothing there to make it thriving, it just seemed better. Most can now avoid it due to the by pass built in the late 70's on the loch side which didn't help the town but helped the motorist. Very Happy my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

All this talk of Fort Bill reminds of the time we passed through in an open top Series one Landy in 1969 on a Scottish Grand Camping Tour from Yorkshire. We topped up with oil whilst there, and purchased another 5 gallons.

In the two weeks to the top of Scotland and back to West Yorkshire we used 13 Gallons of oil. Yes 13 Gallons.

We must have had Vodka in our veins as young lads to not have died of hypothermia or was there a secret way of keeping warm ? Sheep Sheep Sheep FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Some useful places mentioned in this thread - we are staying at Portsonachan on the shore of Loch Awe in mid June
