I have had my Evoque for nearly a week after 4 Freelander 2's since 2008.
All FL's were auto and last 2 were SD 190.
Evoque is 180 with 9 speed auto.
The new Ingeium engine (now also in DSport) is so so much quieter and responsive, gear changes are almost unnoticeable.
On this basis I would think that early D Sport models with 2.2 Freelander engine will soon tumble in price. This was reason I declined ex demo D.Sports at silly prices especially when packed with extras at around £38-£40K. All FL2's (3) Gone

I recently had a DS for a day with the new engine, chalk n cheese compared to the SD4, I liked it a lot

Today I have a DS with the new 2.0 engine (loan car), yes it is very quiet on idle, but its not as responsive as my DS with the 2.2 engine
Also the 2.2 in the DS is crazy quiet, the soundproofing on the DS is a marvel, unless you were told you would never know the 2.2 engine came out of a freelander.

So, we have an Evoque owner, a FL2 owner and a DS owner all singing their respective merits. But which is best? There's only one way to find out.........FIGHT!

FWIW, if we ever got a DS, I'd go for a 2.2 engine model. HSE LUX or above - we also had a 2.0 DS HSE loaner and I found it lacking in goodies and well underpowered. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
