Bike carriers, what have you got?

So Im not going to try and bodge the maxraxx 4 bike carrier I had for the D2 to fit the FL2.

I was looking for an alternative unit, what do you guys use or recommend, or more importantly say to stay away from!

I have a witter zx412 - very happy with it, attaches to swan nect tow bar, and tilts.
The ZX404 I believe is cheaper, performs the same, though needs a fixed / flange towbar

I have a Thule 3 bike carrier, it tilts to allow access to boot area.
Easy to fit and remove, can be locked onto tow ball.
Cheap as chips (loads on auction sites)

Joe Fix it until it's broke !

I put them on the roof. 4 roof mounted cycle carriers fit on roof bars. Nice and easy, as long as you've got very long arms!

Couldn't have a tow ball carrier due to needing bikes and caravan at the same time.

i have a maxxraxx 4 bike carrier

i can see your point, if I'm correct, the D2 will have the maxxraxx that comes away to account for the spare wheel, can max not supply the alternative upright only? it should fit the same bracket Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Hi yes I could buy a new post but I think a second hand tow bar unit unit off ebay would be better value as the maxraxx is a pain to fit and Im not sure the tension straps would lock on top of the rear tailgate.

This is the rack on my D2

Cheers

I hvae the maxxraxx premier
http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4...ure%60KaWb

the aux straps have large red tubes on the end, so i hang that part in the boot, thread it up over the top of the boot lid, and under the spoiler, then thread the other end into the buckle clip and tighten enough to pull the slack out of the boot so the tubes secure and the fixing wouldnt jump apart Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Ok thanks, looks like it might be possible to reuse the one I have, I will look to see if I can find a second hand one on ebay.

Can't remember what mine is, but its solid as hell when on the move. It tilts when then bikes are strapped on to give access into the boot.
I'll get a picture up.
